Asahi Shipping will celebrate its 79th anniversary in September this year. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of our stakeholders who have supported us until now.
Our company was founded as a member of the Tokyu Group based on the initiative of Mr. Keita GOTO who believed that post-WWⅡ reconstruction was only possible by establishing a nation through trade – importing raw materials from overseas, processing, and exporting to the world.
During this period, we built the foundation of our business through voyage contracts mainly with Kobe Steel, Ltd., and subsequently achieved further development by transporting coal to domestic utility companies.
In January 2026, Asahi Shipping Co., Ltd., Hachiuma Steamship Co., Ltd., and Mitsubishi Ore Transport Co., Ltd., will merge to form NYK Bulk ship Partners Co., Ltd. With the pride of Asahi’s “A” funnel mark, we are determined to develop into one of the world’s leading shipping companies by bringing together the vessel operation, ship ownership, and ship management businesses that we have cultivated over our 79-year history into a new integrated company.
